I was doing some last minute shopping yesterday for Isabell and Ellie. Sebastian and I went up the escalator ("I wanna go UP") and ran into a reporter from the Salt Lake Tribune.
Lady: "Hi, I'm Kathy from the Salt Lake Tribune, can I ask you a few questions?"
Me: "Uh, sure."
Sebastian: "Let's go, Momma."
Me: "Just a second, sweetie."
Lady: "Why are you at the mall today?"
Me: "Just doing some last minute shopping for my step-daughters."
Lady: "Do you normally wait this long to do your shopping?"
Sebastian: "Momma, I wanna go DOWN [the escalator]."
Me: "We'll go down in a few minutes, I'm talking to this lady, she's asking me some questions."
Me: "No, I'm usually not a procrastinator, but this year I looked at the calendar and thought, 'Uh, oh, Christmas is only a few days away. I was caught by surprise."
Lady: "blah, blah, blah, blah..."
Me: "blah, blah, blah, blah.."
Sebastian: "Momma, let's GO"
Lady: "Okay, thanks for your time."
Here's the quote from the newspaper today:
"Sunny Hunt was being dragged up the escalator by a toddler and she wasn't nearly as calm.
'I still have a few presents to get,' said the [insert city] woman. 'This year I'm just a procrastinator. I looked
at at the calendar on Thursday and thought, 'Oh no. It's close.' '
*sigh* "Not nearly as calm"? YOU try wrangling an over-stimulated, escalator-obsessed toddler and try to give an interview. You'd be frazzled too.
